Russafa Sporting Club was established in November 2003 as a non-profit cultural association, Registration No. 12630 in La Conselleria de Justícia I Administracions Publiques, with the purpose of addressing the creative interests of their members.
The diversity of its members guarantees the broad spectrum of its activity in different creative fields, from painting to dance, from architecture to literature, all under the slogan “Espai de les arts contra les arts” attached to our logo.
Our location in Russafa undoubtedly contributes to the revitalisation of the neighbourhood, having created, along with other similar initiatives around, an optimal environment for the recovery of the area’s vibrancy.
Our venue, located on Calle Sevilla No. 5, in the Valencian neighbourhood of Russafa, has two distinctive areas.
In the first one lies the Exhibition Hall, an elongated corridor where an imposing exhibition panel drives you to the second area, the inner large scale Studio.
Our Exhibition Hall has embraced the artwork of renowned painters and sculptors, although our main goal is to promote new talents. Photography has visited our Exhibition Hall and we have also displayed the creative activity of architects and designers.
The inner Studio hosts the artist’s workshops as well as the stage for performances.
In this area with a powerfully inspiring character, we have set up a stage where dance, music events, drama performances, literacy and poetry encounters, are taking place.
Parallel to these, we have started a new activity: Editorial “Sporting de les lletres” with the goal of caring for a kind of literature that, being extremely different and alternative, doesn’t fit in the traditional genre and can’t find the right path to let others know about itself. Either way we want to link literature with other artistic disciplines to create new conjoined or, maybe, disjoined scenarios. In sum, our character will foment experimental literature which will embrace, among others, visual poetry, the artist book, the absurd narrative and a long list of work treated as unclassified.
